It’s a relaxing Autumn day; all grey skies and spattered rain drops falling on the tin roof. I’ve had a few visits from wonderful friends today.
Earlier, my friend Brenda came to visit. I’m currently learning to drive (believe it or not) and we went out driving and practicing K-turns. I think I need a TAGteacher for the parallel parking. While I made great progress today, I cannot help but empathize with my students throughout this experience. Learning new mechanical skills, whether it be dancing, driving, or clicker training, is a trial and error process which may involve any number of frustrating experiences.
I then enjoyed a visit from my friend Jess, Jade Plant Emergency First Aid Practitioner. I think my previously sick jade plant is well on her way to recovery. Time to bring her inside, as night time lows are making for a rather cold Binghamton evening lately!
After two wonderful visits with friends, I am now expecting the arrival of my sister, brother-in-law, and nephew at any time for an evening of watching Coraline in front of the fireplace. Before I go and build the evening’s fire, I wanted to announce the best news of the day!
I also got wonderful, fantabulous news today, I’m all set to join the Dog Star Daily team! If you are unfamiliar with www.dogstardaily.com; it is one of the internet’s best resources for results-based, scientifically supported modern behavior modification and training techniques. (Along with one of my other favorite sites to read/write for, Karen Pryor Clicker Training. Both websites are incredibly valuable resources for dog owners and trainers, and offer a wealth of information on dog-friendly, effective, training.
Dog Star Daily is the brainchild of internationally respected veterinary behaviorist Ian Dunbar and his equally inspiring wife, Kelly Gorman Dunbar. Ian and Kelly, like Karen Pryor, have changed the world for millions of dogs throughout the world through promoting positive reinforcement training techniques for dogs and other companion animals. Much as Karen Pryor has a knack for accumulating the world’s best B & T (behavior and training) talents to instruct clicker trainers and pet owners through the Karen Pryor Academy and ClickerExpo faculties, Ian and Kelly have accumulated a similarly incredible wealth of knowledge in the Dog Star Daily bloggers.
It’s a privilege and an honor to join the Dog Star Daily team! I can’t wait to get to work on my first contributions!

Thanks to DSD for this amazing opportunity. I hope that my entries can encourage both professional and hobby trainers on their paths as much as DSD bloggers have helped me on my own training journey.
