It is a great pleasure for me to announce to my friends and readers that I have been invited to serve on the Alumni Advisory Board for the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior.
Going through the Academy as a student was one of the most challenging, exciting, intense, and rewarding educational experiences of my life. Now I have the pleasure of assisting my business partner at Karen Pryor Academy workshops, and enjoy having the opportunity to meet those students who are destined to join the ranks of some of the world’s most fantastic, accomplished, and dedicated animal trainers.
KPA currently has over 160 graduates from around the world, with CTP (Certified Training Partners) in the United States, Canada, Mexico, Iceland, Israel, Japan, The Netherlands, Hong Kong, and Taiwan. KPA graduates have been assessed according to rigorous standards in their knowledge of learning theory and training techniques, as well as their teaching skills and training ability. It is a great pleasure to be selected to represent over 150 of the greatest behavior professionals I know and to give back to an organization that has given so much to me.
I would like to share my enthusiasm, also, about those who have been elected or selected to serve on the board with me. The Academy and CTP have made judicious decisions in selecting Laura Monaco-Torelli, Irith Bloom, Laurie Luck, and Alicea Schaffer; all talented trainers who have given me much inspiration on my own training journey.
Thank you to the Academy and to my fellow graduates for allowing me the pleasure of representing you in decisions which will only further our collective goal of making the world a better place for dogs and their people. It is an unbelievable honor, and I will always endeavor to serve you well.
