As many of you know, this past weekend I lost one of the best friends I’ll ever have, my Saint Bernard, Monte.
Little did I realize that my own pain would be shared by dog owners not only across the United States, but around the world, in other countries and continents. Shortly after posing “Ode to Boy,” my tribute to Monte, dozens of pet parents posted pictures to my Facebook; images of their own beautiful dogs holding signs that said, “Thank you, Monte.” Truly, if there was one single gesture that could provide our family with comfort after this devastating loss, the “Thank you, Monte,” pictures were it.
I was so inspired by these gestures of kindness that I created “Project Monte.” Ode to Boy: Tributes to Crossover Dogs is a new blog I’ve created in his memory. My intent is to make the blog a place where pet parents and pet professionals can honor their crossover dogs – the dogs that brought them to abandon their choke and shock collars in favor of toys, clickers, treats, trust, and respect.
Right now, the blog is in its infancy. Expect many improvements over the coming months!
